Traeger Grills

Salt Lake City, UT

Looking to move their corporate headquarters from Portland to Salt Lake City, Traeger Grills enlisted the help of Layton to construct an authentic space they could call home. It needed to embrace the Traeger culture and be functional for indoor/outdoor grilling as well as a meeting, office, and dining space. With grilling being a mandatory requirement, ample patio space as well as two kitchens were in the plans.

The main entry features the company logo — laser cut from quarter-inch hot rolled steel — mounted on a textured wall created of stacked firewood. A hint of grill smoke permeates the office, as engineers found solutions to please the fire marshal to grill indoors — and outdoors, too — accessing rooftop patio grills through a roll-up garage door.

Reclaimed barn wood tells the story of the Traeger's history – original manufacturing started in a barn in Mount Angel, Oregon. Magnificent wood elements used on the reception desk and custom designed board room table are out of salvaged material from Oregon. The custom designed board room table consists of two walnut and one big tooth maple salvaged tree sections.

Additional custom work included all millwork (barnwood doors and walls, lobby and stacked wood wall) and wood burned signs with clever room names.
